Street-food in Florence is synonymous with Lampredotto (a typical Florentine meat dish) but this "shop" goes against this trend. Here you can only find the classic “semel”, the sandwich that in Tuscany is better known as semelle, with about 9 or 10 different types of filling that vary periodically.
They range from smoked herring with pecorino cheese and pods to the stuffed raviolini with sauce passing through the "Canapone" a type of "compote", a filling in Tuscany, a classic in this restaurant and therefore always present: made with ricotta, dried tomato, rigatino and nutmeg with a little chilli to enhance the already succulent flavors. There is no shortage of seasonal fillings such as figs and salami. There is also a vegetarian filling available. These go very well with a glass of either red or white wine from the house. Behind the counter, there are the two very nice owners, one preparing the delicious sandwiches and the other acting as maître.
Many of those who come here are loyal customers, also coming from the market just across the street. A Semel is at 4.00 euros and a glass of wine for just 1.00 euro. Tap water is free, while the small bottle costs 1.00 euro.
When hunger comes, enjoy a great "semelle".
