This is an authentic and popular trattoria in the Appio Latino quarter. Adriano Baldassare is the chef and owner of the more well-known Tordomatto. The entryway presents antique furniture with a white varnish. The tablecloths are checked, table settings are used for the entire meal and the dining areas are spartan. Tripe, meatballs in sauce, coratella, here there is just straight and pure tradition without leaving any desire for a re-interpretation. The mezze maniche all’amatriciana are exquisite, among the best in the capital. The classic spaghetti alla carbonara are absolutely worth a try. The coda alla vaccinara is very tender and juicy, which we highly recommend together with the lamb and roasted potatoes for a second dish. The prices are affordable, surprisingly so. The dishes are good and well-made. There is a house wine, a few labels from Lazio or beer available. It is a trattoria that we recommend for an authentic traditional meal. There is a lot of simplicity in the décor and design; fortunately, it does not subscribe to the common plastic pepperoncini hung on the wooden beams (often also fake), but neither the posh superstructures imposed by acclaimed architects.
