Poco fuori Agnone, la cittadina in provincia di Isernia universalmente nota per la più antica fonderia di campane ancora in attività al mondo, c’è questo ristorante (vezzosamente “locanda”), solo all’apparenza un bistrot parigino atterrato chissà come tra i monti Molisani.
In realtà, siamo in uno dei non tantissimi locali in regione dove si propone una interessante e solida cucina che va al di là di tutti gli stereotipi.
L’alto Molise è uno scrigno di materie prime di gran qualità, specialmente nel comparto carne e latticini. Ingredienti che diventano una vera ricchezza per chi è dietro i fornelli, ne sono un bell’esempio gli gnocchi ripieni di caciocavallo e zafferano con riduzione di patate al forno, e il complesso petto d’anatra con riduzione di lampone e crema di nocciola. Per concludere, ci sono dei bei dolci, come il semifreddo al caramello con pesche e granelli di sale, oltre a un servizio puntuale e professionale, così come la cantina in cui troviamo bottiglie non solo regionali.
Just outside of Agnone, the little city in the Isernia province universally known for the oldest foundry of bells still in business in the world, there is this restaurant (known simply as “locanda”). It appears to be a Parisian bistrot that has landed somehow among the Molisani mountains.
In reality, however, this is one of the few establishments in the region where a solid, interesting cuisine is proposed, which goes beyond the common stereotypes.
The Alto Molise is a treasure chest of high-quality raw materials, especially in terms of meats and dairy products. They are ingredients that become a true fortune for whomever is at the stove. A great example are the gnocchi stuffed with caciocavallo cheese and saffron with roasted potatoes, and the complex duck breast with a reduction of raspberries and cream of hazelnut. To conclude there are some lovely, lovely desserts such as the semifreddo with caramel and salted peach. The service is punctual and professional. There is a nice cantina with labels from outside the region as well.
